Athoner Cool Fcat
How I Saw The Sun Again II
Remember, Reader, if e'er in the Alps
A mist o'ertook thee, through which thou couldst see
Not otherwise than through its membrane mole,
How, when the vapours humid and condensed
Begin to dissipate themselves, the sphere
Of the sun feebly enters in among them,
And thy imagination will be swift
In coming to perceive how I re-saw
The sun at first, that was already setting.
Thus, to the faithful footsteps of my Master
Mating mine own, I issued from that cloud
To rays already dead on the low shores.
O thou, Imagination, that dost steal us
So from without sometimes, that man perceives not,
Although around may sound a thousand trumpets,
Who moveth thee, if sense impel thee not?
Moves thee a light, which in the heaven takes form,
By self, or by a will that downward guides it.
. . . find out where it ends then you'll find where it begins.
Holophonic Sound Makes People Happy
What? - you don't know what holophonic sound is? It's basically another unique look into the human brain in first person (next to mechanical automatic watches). Well, basically, it's a hologram of sound which actually makes more sense then a hologram, in some ways. It is a recording that uses an inaudible sound reference to create an interference which somehow tricks the brain into hearing spacial sound references - it gets more complicated but I can't remember exactly how it works - I once found a great article about it which really explained how and why it worked but it seems to have been lost in the interweb - if you try, you may find one that is somewhat intelligible. This all brings me to an interesting factoid about how we orient ourselves in a three dimensional environ - mostly your eyes right - NO it's mostly your ears - just listen to a holophonic recording and experience the 3d yourself.

Horse : )
Nausea spins the world while a million lighted particles rip through the silence once so warm and complete. The body heaves with miniature rejections of existence at every toss and turn. Ten minutes pass, it’s time to wake up in a bed drenched with sweat. Thirty minutes pass, the room has now shrunk on the order of 2 sizes and that once tepid rest now shivers the soul right down to the bone. Memories come through the ears and nose poking little holes in the clarity of thoughts. Windows suddenly become useless edifices to the once lively world of goings and comings, even the thought of buying milk comes bearing hammers of headaches and listlessnesses.
True Brilliance In Time

I believe once you learn a little more about the function/mechanics of these masterpieces you may feel that they transcend a simple watch - they are a small peek inside the human mind.
It's been a long time
................................................................................
Have you ever wanted to make a giant toothpick sculpture (Yeah, I know, me too - I used to make miniature ones as a kid with a hot glue gun.) Unfortunately I have to inform you that someone else has beaten us to it:

Not only this big, but THIS BIG:
This was a sculpture/art-installation at Burning Man a few years back, which brings me to what I really want to talk about. Where is Burning Woman? I've always wanted to go to burning man and watch all the naked hippies run around trying to find some spiritual awakening on shrooms while I built a giant wooden sculpture but I've never had the cash nor time, ohh well. Well, here is my proposal - why don't we start the Burning Woman festival and host it somewhere in White Sands (permit pending) and make it better, bigger, larger, more artistic, more burning, more humongous, cacophonous, spiritually challenging, consumer friendly (i.e. sell beer/smokes/and all things addictive), dangerous, loud, music friendly, and one where everyone works together to make one giant piece of "art" that can be seen from space! Well, it's either this or someone needs to take me to Burning Man this year and bring A LOT of wood and nails.P.S. Did you know that Donnie Darko was written and directed by a 26 year old (Luckyeee, even though he didn't make any money from it)?
